Triple podium for the DYNAVOLT INTACT GP MotoE Team in Le Mans
Hector Garzo and Randy Krummenacher gave the DYNAVOLT INTACT GP MotoE team three podiums at the two season-opening races in Le Mans, France, two of which went to the Spaniard and one to the Swiss.
Two really impressive performances on this weather-beaten Saturday were delivered by none other than Hector Garzo. The 24-year-old took the holeshot in both races from his second starting position and successfully fended off his opponents with perseverance at first. In Race 1, he even managed to hold off his rivals until the last lap, when he was beaten by two-time MotoE World Cup winner Jordi Torres in the final metres after pole-sitter Matteo Ferrari crashed in the battle for victory.
It was Torres and Ferrari with whom Garzo found himself in a direct duel after leading metresagain in the second race of the day. The pace was extremely high, so the Paterna-born rider had to give way and finished a solid race in third position. His two podium finishes catapult Garzo onto second place in the World Championship standings with a total of 36 points.
Randy Krummenacher, for his part, can be happy about a third place in the first race and even if he benefited from the crashes of others at one point or another, he still managed to keep the opponents who were putting pressure on him from behind at bay. For the second race of the weekend, he made a few changes together with his crew, but these did not bring the 33-year-old the desired advantage in the second eight-lap sprint. The Swiss eventually finished seventh and is tied with Matteo Ferrari in fourth in the world with 25 World Championship points behind the Italian.
The next stop on this year's MotoE calendar is in Mugello, Italy, where the second round of the all-electric world championship will be contested from the 09th - 10th of June.
