Strong second row for Senna Agius at the Sachsenring

Just 0.163s behind pole position, Senna Agius of the LIQUI MOLY Husqvarna Intact GP Moto2 Team delivered a qualifying parade to be proud of. The Australian leads the second row of the grid into the legendary Sachsenring Grand Prix with fourth place on the grid, while Darryn Binder also made the leap from Q1 to Q2 and will start from the sixth row on Sunday.

EIt was a hot and busy Saturday for Moto2 rookie Senna Agius, as the Australian had to prove that he has what it takes to fight for pole position for the ninth Grand Prix of the year after a rather mixed practice session ahead of Q1. His 1'23.318 from Q1 was enough for him to progress, but that was by no means the end of the 19-year-old's efforts. Agius stepped up the game and finished fourth fastest with a personal best time of 1'22.941. The youngster only lost a minimal 0.163s on pole-setter Celestino Vietti. As a result, the Aussie not only leaves well-known opponents with far more experience behind him but also the current top three in the world championship standings. After his fifth place in Barcelona, the Intact GP rider is aiming for his new best result of the season for the exhausting 25-lap race.

Darryn Binder also put a lot of work into improving his lap times from Friday. The experienced world championship rider took more than a second out of his Kalex compared to the first day and, as third fastest in Q1, claimed his ticket for the hard-fought Qualifying 2, in which the South African only rode three full laps as he only had one new tyre left. His best time was a 1'23.330 and was enough for 16th place on the grid in row six. However, if you take a look at the 0.552s gap to the top, you realise how incredibly close and competitive the Moto2 class is these days.

When the lights go out for the German Grand Prix at 12:15 (CEST), the LIQUI MOLY Husqvarna Intact GP Moto2 duo will be fighting for top positions with everything at their disposal.
