Season finale in Estoril with a new addition
The young talents of the Memmingen based LIQUI MOLY Husqvarna Intact GP Junior Team will compete in the season’s finale in Portugal over the next three days, where Richard Irmscher will make his debut in European Talent Cup.
Due to the storm in Valencia three weeks ago, the calendar of FIM JuniorGP™ World Championship has also been changed. The final race weekend was originally scheduled for Thursday, November 21st, to Sunday, November 24th, at Valencia’s Ricardo Tormo Circuit. However, the Circuito do Estoril, not far from Lisbon, where the second event of the season took place early May, will take its place instead. The capacity utilization of the circuit close to the Atlantic coast also had to be considered, so the event was shortened to three days and moved to the beginning of this week. Therefore, free practice sessions will take place this Monday, followed by the day of qualifying on Tuesday and the final race day of the year on Wednesday.
In European Talent Cup, however, the German outfit will have to do without Fynn Kratochwil in Estoril. The 14-year-old from Thuringia injured himself in a crash at the MiniGP World Series finale. His recovery is not yet complete, so Kratochwil does not want to return until he is fully fit again. Meanwhile, the team quickly found a replacement in Richard Irmscher from Burgstädt in the Free State of Saxony. The 15-year-old made a name for himself this year in Northern Talent Cup, where he finished second overall as a rookie. Two race wins and a total of five podiums also stand out. As the same material is used in NTC, Irmscher is already well acquainted with his equipment for the coming days. However, the harsh climate in European Talent Cup and the Estoril track will certainly be unfamiliar to him.
In the top-class JuniorGP™ Moto3™ class, the rider’s trio in LIQUI MOLY Husqvarna Intact GP Junior Team have big plans. Rico Salmela, Jakob Rosenthaler and Leo Rammerstorfer each want to round off a remarkable season with a real highlight. The experience and good results from the season opener seven months ago at the same venue, as well as the prospect of being able to improve significantly in the points table, will give everyone a further boost of motivation.
