Marc Alcoba storms to places 5 & 4 in Aragon
Last weekend the Dynavolt Intact GP Junior Team riders continued to catch up in the Moto2 and ETC classes of the FIM CEV Repsol Championship, when they competed in Aragon at the fourth event of the year.
Especially the Spaniard Marc Alcoba, who dropped out of the first races of the season due to injury, really got going in MotorLand Aragon. The 17-year-old finished fifth in race one and fourth in race two. With additional 11 and 13 points he overtook his team mate Matthias Meggle in the overall standings of the Moto2 European Championship and ranks now 13th.
Matthias Meggle follows his Spanish Dynavolt Intact GP Junior Team pit box neighbour with a gap of six points to 14th rank of the Championship. After the German went down in race one on Sunday, on his 18th birthday, due to a small mistake, he again clinched once more a solid top ten result in the second race with ninth place.
For European Talent Cup (ETC) rider Joshua Bauer, the weekend was a challenge, but the junior team's youngest also made promising progress in the MotorLand. The 15-year-old rode his best qualifying this season so far and raced to 16th place on the grid in the sixth row. After retiring in the first race due to a technical defect, he fought in race two in the chasing group resolutely against more experienced competitors and crossed the finish line in 18th place.
Now the Junior Team riders head into a summer break of two month until the final spurt of the 2018 season starts in Jerez de la Frontera at the end of September.
