Muñoz & Pini impress with top 10 results in Qatar

The LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP Team ended a successful and promising weekend in Doha, as both David Muñoz with sixth place and rookie Guido Pini with tenth place secured valuable championship points at the Qatar Grand Prix.

David Muñoz put in an impressive performance throughout the weekend and set several fastest times. In the 16-lap race, the 18-year-old Spaniard fought his way up from eleventh on the grid to third place within a few laps, before a collision with Dennis Foggia almost put him out of the race. Despite a time loss of over three seconds and the loss of eight positions, Muñoz quickly found his rhythm again. With the fastest race lap and strong duels in the chasing group, he eventually fought his way to sixth place and collected his first ten championship points of the season.

Rookie Guido Pini also impressed with his great fighting spirit in only his fourth Moto3 race. Although the 17-year-old Italian lost five positions at the start of the race, he quickly found his rhythm and fought thrilling battles - including against his team-mate Muñoz. In the end, Pini crossed the finish line in a strong tenth place, celebrating his second points-scoring success in a row, which earned him six more championship points.

The LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP Team is now looking forward to the first race weekend in Europe, from 25th to 27th April in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, where both riders will once again be looking to prove their top form.

"I'm happy because we've finally picked up our first points of the year. Furthermore, these ten points are very important for the team, but of course we need more. Nevertheless, it was a good day for us today. We have the next opportunity in two weeks, and it's my home Grand Prix in Jerez. That makes it even more important and that's why I'm already fully focused on it. A big thank you to the whole team for their good work and support. See you in Jerez."

"Overall, I'm satisfied, although I made a small mistake at the start. I didn't get off the line too badly, but after that I lost a few positions, which cost me the direct contact with the first group. Then I tried to push and catch up with the riders in front of me again, but that wasn't possible. Nevertheless, I gave it my best until the end and was rewarded with more points. Now we have a week and a half break until the next race, where I will prepare well for Jerez. It will be an important training to come back better in Jerez. In addition, I'm looking forward to the first race weekend in Europe, because Jerez is the first track I know."

"Today, both our riders saw the chequered flag for the first time this year, and this in a points scoring position. David and Guido already showed strong performances in the practice sessions. David finished first, sixth and third in the free practice sessions, underlining his competitiveness. Unfortunately, his qualifying was not perfect, which is why he had to start the race from eleventh on the grid. Thanks to his strong will to fight, however, this should not be a major problem. On the other side of the grid, Guido improved by one row compared to the last race in Austion to ninth place.
As expected, David's race went very well in the early stages. He quickly worked his way up to fourth position until he had a collision with another rider. This incident dropped him back to 13th place. However, this did not stop David from working his way up to sixth place thanks to his fighting spirit. Guido, on the other hand, led the chasing pack in seventh and eighth place for a long time. Crossing the line in in tenth place, he finished for the second time in a row in a respectable points position. So, we can be very satisfied with him as a rookie."
