Garzo & Tulovic take over the third row of the grid in the season finale

Hector Garzo of the Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE team could not make for a more exciting start to the final two races than starting from eighth on the grid behind his title challengers. Team colleague Lukas Tulovic is just one position behind in 9th place.

Going into the final weekend as the world championship leader and therefore also the title favourite is certainly both a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, you have a points lead in your pocket, but on the other, the pressure is enormous. This is exactly what Spaniard Hector Garzo, who will start the two races on Saturday with a 38-point buffer behind him, is going through at the moment. However, the eighth position on the grid is a challenge that he would certainly have preferred to do without. The 26-year-old's previous practice sessions were not ideal in many respects. A ninth place in P1 and P2 meant that he had to line up in Q1 for the first time this season. The rider with the number 4 finished the ten-minute Q1 session as the clear winner with a lead of 0.341s. However, he then only had little time to prepare for Q2 and reload his bike to set the fastest time on the 4.23 km Misano World Circuit. In the three laps of his only run of the session, Hector Garzo's efforts were not enough to get him past eighth on the grid, which will only make the final even more exciting.

Lukas Tulovic, who was equally motivated going into the eighth race weekend of the season, had a similar experience on this sunny day of practice and qualifying. The German's practice times of P8 and P5 in the morning were enough to send him straight into Q2. The 24-year-old was able to improve his 1'40.289 from P2 to 1'40.192 in the afternoon Q2. Nevertheless, the rider from Baden-Württemberg was only 0.336s behind pole setter Mattia Casadei. Ninth place on the grid will give 'Tulo' every chance of a successful finish, with big things at stake for him, his team-mate and the entire German racing team. The lights will go out at 12:15 (CEST) and 16:10 on Saturday, heralding the final eight thrilling and all-important laps of the two showdown races.

The Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE team is looking forward to the upcoming season finale after seven sacrificial and intense race weekends and hopes to be able to celebrate their  MotoE Team World Champion as well as their second Rider World Champion in less than 24 hours.
