He made it! Hector Garzo is MotoE World Champion 2024

Hector Garzo is crowned MotoE World Champion 2024 in Misano after a phenomenal season and the Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE Team is Team World Champion thanks to the outstanding performances of the Spaniard and the German Lukas Tulovic, who had to put up with a crash in the final race after P7 in Race 1.

Some fairy tales come true. Hector Garzo knows this better than anyone after the final MotoE weekend. After a challenging qualifying session on Friday, Garzo, who was born in Paterna, started the title decider in eighth place. Before the first 8-lap sprint, he had a 38-point lead over Mattia Casadei, who, even though he won the first race, had nothing in store against the 24-year-old. Despite narrowly missing out on the podium in fourth place after a final attack on Eric Granado, Garzo had every reason to celebrate, as the 13 additional points irrevocably secured him the MotoE World Championship title. In the second and final race of the season, the new world champion finished seventh, which earned him a further nine points for the team standings.

Lukas Tulovic also went full throttle to collect as many points as possible, as his German racing team was aiming to win the team world championship this Saturday. After the start, 'Tulo' was able to prevail against Spinelli and Gutierrez taking seventh place. When the lights went out for the last time this season for MotoE in the afternoon, the rider from Baden-Württemberg got off to a good start that moved him up several positions. In seventh position, the 24-year-old fought for every meter, but he wanted too much causing him to crash over a bump, which was certainly not the end of the season he had hoped for.

Together, Hector Garzo, with nine podium places and four victories, and Lukas Tulovic, with twelve races with plenty of points, ensured that the Team World Championship was won. The Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE team is extremely proud of this overall success and would like to thank its riders, all team members, sponsors and supporters for this unique MotoE season, which could hardly have ended more successfully.

"Of course, it's a great feeling and something I still have to realize. But I'm so happy for myself and the whole Intact GP team. The truth is that this weekend was a bit crazy in terms of emotions. I was quite unsettled yesterday because free practice sessions and qualifying were not the best. Starting from the third row in MotoE is always complicated because overtaking is not easy. But I think we managed the situation quite well and our way of working throughout the season has paid off. This is underlined by the many podium finishes we've had in a row.

To be honest, I've been super nervous since I woke up this morning. I think I only slept two hours last night. But I tried to think that it was just one more race in the championship and I tried to focus on overtaking in the first laps because I knew that Mattia Casadei had a really good rhythm. On the other hand, Kevin Zannoni surprised me with his fast pace at the front and I was sorry for him that he crashed. So, I made my way through the field and found myself behind Eric Granado, who I was able to follow well. On the last lap, I really wanted to get on the podium, but I quickly shifted down a gear because I knew that P4 was enough to decide the championship and I would have another opportunity to try in the afternoon.

Overall, I am very satisfied with how the season has gone. We started the season already very fast at the tests in Portimao and managed to make a strong start to the championship at the same track, which was very important. But the toughest moment of the season was Le Mans, of course, when I felt so strong and was even on pole position, but two zeros in one race day was hard to take. After that, I was really devastated, but it was a good time to reorganize my personality and also my work. A few more things changed after Mugello. The best moment was of course winning both races at the Sachsenring, my team's home race. But also Austria, where we were able to significantly extend our lead in the points table. Last but not least, this weekend is also worth mentioning, because even though we arrived with a good lead, it wasn't easy to deal with the pressure. So, we proved our worth and won both championships, the team classification and the riders' title. It will certainly take some time for me to realize everything, but I'm very happy now. Congratulations and a big thank you to the whole Intact GP team for their incredible work and dedication throughout the year."

"From my point of view, the last race Saturday of the season ended with a smile and a tear in my eye. I didn't have the best start in the first race, but I was soon able to get ahead of Gutierrez and Spinelli. But I didn't succeed against Ferrari. Towards the end of the race, however, I had issues with the front, as the front wheel folded several times. That's why I played it safe and brought home the important points. In the afternoon, I got off to a better start and was in the group that was fighting for the lead. I was able to keep up well, but unfortunately. I couldn't get past other riders because I didn't have the grip I needed to gain the necessary momentum out of the corners. It wasn't possible to do more than catch up with the guys on the brakes. Nevertheless, I was really determined to get to the front and overdid it a bit. I missed a bump and crashed, which I feel very sorry about for my team.
Fortunately, we still won the team standings, which I'm a bit proud of. I'm also very happy for Hector, who won the riders' title. Congratulations to him, he really put in a great season and absolutely deserves the crown. Of course, I'm also delighted for the team that we are team world champions. Finally, a big thank you to everyone for their work and support this year."

"It was a great season in MotoE, just as we wanted it to be. It's all the better that it actually turned out that way in the end. We knew that we had the potential, but a lot can always happen in MotoE. The short races have a lot of spice and are always a close affair. So, it can easily happen that you lose points through no fault of your own. But that worked well this year, even though we had such a setback at Le Mans. Luckily, we were able to quickly work our way out of that. Hector recently won three races in a row, laying the base for winning the world championship and the team championship. This weekend it was difficult for everyone to stay calm and keep their nerves under control. Hector did his best to hide his nervousness. But in the end, he delivered a superb performance, which also applies to Lukas. That's why we've been rewarded with both titles, which also shows that we've put together a good team. We are happy for everyone in the team, and I would also like to thank everyone who contributed to this success. Thanks, guys, you've done a great job this year!"
