Vierge catching up strongly in Thailand & Schrötter unlucky in the first lap

After an exciting and challenging weekend in Thailand, Xavi Vierge secured eleventh place in the race on Sunday, while Marcel Schrötter was kicked out of the race in the first lap.

The entire weekend on the new MotoGP racetrack, the Chang International Circuit, was more difficult than previously expected for the Dynavolt Intact GP team. Nevertheless, from the beginning onwards, Marcel Schrötter and Xavi Vierge have enjoyed riding on the Thai circuit in front of thousands of Asian motorcycle fans.

Unfortunately, for Marcel Schrötter the race was over way to fast. Shortly after the 25-year-old started from tenth place into the Thailand Grand Prix, he was knocked down by Joan Mir, who crashed on the inside of turn three. The bike of the Spaniard hit the right side of Marcel's Kalex and hit his forearm quite hard. Apart from a bruise, the Bavarian seemed to have gotten away without further injuries. In the Championship ranking it was not a step forward, nor backwards, since his biggest rivals like Mir, Alex Marquez and Lorenzo Baldassarri also didn't finish the race. He remains in seventh place and can start the next attack in Japan.

Xavi Vierge, on the other hand, can leave Buriram with five points in his pocket. The Spaniard fought hard for any improvements over the past three days. In the race, the 21-year-old again gave everything to make up positions from the 20th starting position. After a few crashes in front of him at the start of the 24-lap battle, he managed to leave a few riders behind him and eventually crossed the finish line in eleventh place. In the World Championship, he unfortunately slipped behind Luca Marini, who made it on the podium in Thailand, and now occupies eleventh place.

In two weeks, the Intact GP team will return to Asia to continue their work in Japan from 19th to 21st of October.
