Moto3 rookie Guido Pini scores in Texas, Muñoz with unfortunate crash

The LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP Team can look back on an eventful race weekend in Texas, which brought both challenges and successes. Rookie Guido Pini shone with a remarkable performance and secured his first championship points of the season with eleventh place. Pole setter David Muñoz was unlucky after a strong performance in the race.

The 17-year-old Guido Pini once again proved his talent on the demanding Circuit of the Americas. Despite the fact that the 5.51-kilometre track was completely new territory for the rookie, the Italian delivered a spirited performance in the seven rider strong chasing pack after starting from P12 and was ultimately rewarded with his first five world championship points. This success underlines the young rider's potential and gives him and his crew a positive boost for the upcoming races.

David Muñoz showed strong pace this weekend, claiming his first pole position and showing his class at the start of the 14-lap race by quickly fighting his way back to second place after a difficult start. While he was determinedly trying to close the gap to race leader Jose Antonio Rueda, he made a small mistake in turn 1, which led to a crash. Fortunately, Muñoz remained uninjured despite the further setback and can now fully concentrate on the next challenge in Qatar, where the next Grand Prix will take place from the 11th to 13th of April.

"There's not much to say. I'm sorry for the team because of the crash that happened in the early stages already. It looks like luck is not on our side at the moment, hopefully things will turn around soon. But the important thing is that I have full confidence in my team and also in myself. With that in mind, I'm looking forward to the next race in Qatar. I think that's the best way to quickly put today behind us, even if the situation is difficult to accept. We will do our best again in two weeks for more to come."

"I am really happy! I tried to do my best in the race, but of course that's always the case. Anyway, we finished the race, which is the most important thing, because we crashed in Thailand and Argentina. But we had a good weekend here in Austin, even if we still need to improve a bit. But we are making steady progress and getting closer to the front step by step. I'm looking forward to Qatar. Thanks to the team for their great work and support."

"We had very different conditions on both days of practice here in Austin. It started with a very wet Friday, then a drying track and finally a completely dry tarmac in qualifying. David and Guido did very well in the practice sessions and were competitive in all conditions. David's pole position was very nice. It came at exactly the right time and was very important for the whole team after our unfortunate start to the season. But Guido's twelfth place on the grid, who made it into Q2 as second placed rider from Q1, was also a remarkable achievement. The fourth row of the grid was a strong starting position for him.

He was able to confirm this with eleventh place in the race. Guido rode in a strong group the whole time, in which he was able to hold his own. In the end, he was rewarded with his first world championship points. That is very pleasing. David started from pole position and was a bit cautious at the beginning. That was certainly good, because he then worked his way up to second place. After that, I think he wanted to close the gap to Rueda in a short space of time. That wasn't ideal and led to a crash. We would have expected a bit more patience from him in this situation, because the race was still long, and we had the speed for the podium. The retirement is of course a great pity. Nevertheless, we will continue like this in Qatar, because both riders have great potential. We have to work on exploiting this to the full."
