Gonzalez celebrates another podium success, Agius scores with P13

Manuel Gonzalez brought the LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP Team its second success of the season with a strong second place at the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit. Team-mate Senna Agius also celebrated three points after a challenging weekend thanks to P13.

Spain's Manuel Gonzalez added another 20 points to his championship account. The number 18 rider started the 21-lap race in Argentina from pole position for the second time in a row and crossed the finish line as the undisputed runner-up. The 22-year-old repeatedly set the tone throughout the weekend, but had to concede defeat to Jake Dixon at the start and crossed the finish line in second place behind the Briton, with a safe gap to his pursuers. The journey now takes the world championship leader to Texas, USA, where the third round of the world championship is scheduled for the 28th - 30th of March.

For Senna Agius, an instructive race weekend on a track that was new to him ended with a pleasing result. Despite constantly changing weather and track conditions, the Australian was able to steadily improve his pace. The 19-year-old then gradually worked his way up to thirteenth place in the race, which earned him another three championship points. He can now travel to Austin in fifth place of the championship, where he will be able to show his potential again in a fortnight' time at the Circuit of the Americas.

"I am happy about the second place. We did our best, even if we were missing a few small details today to fight for victory with Jake. But we have to learn from this situation, and I have to do a better job of adapting my riding style. I tried to understand the track’s conditions better, because they were different to yesterday. Nevertheless, I did everything I could to change my riding and find the tenths in some corners because I was aware that it was not possible to keep up with him. I'm very happy with my feeling and we'll take this experience with us and try to do better next time. We are just at the beginning of the championship and we have to score as many points as possible in every race. I also try not to make mistakes and to learn from every situation, and we have to put our opponents under pressure at every moment. I am happy about this weekend, and we will continue like this."

"This result and this feeling are not what we are working towards this year. I struggled a lot in the race, even though I did my best, but we were really missing something very important. I tried to change my riding style, but I couldn't build up any feeling from the start and couldn't get into my rhythm. So, I got stuck behind some riders and couldn't overtake. That's a bit disappointing. We'll take home a few points. But we have to reset and prepare well for Austin. Nevertheless, I would like to thank the team, because they worked tirelessly this weekend. We showed good speed, but something was missing today, we have to analyze that and think about it for America."

"Both our riders rode another very good race today and to be on pole position is of course always good. But we knew that Jake is very strong here and that his bike works well. Nevertheless, we hoped that we could put him a bit more under pressure at least. In the end, it wasn't enough, and Manu accepted it, which was exactly right. Despite everything, it was another strong team performance, and you can't win every weekend. Nevertheless, it can go on like this. Second place is definitely a good result.
On the other hand, we are also very happy with Senna. You have to bear in mind that it was his first time here, which is always difficult for a young rider. In addition, the conditions weren't exactly helpful for him because they kept changing a bit. That was also the case today, they were completely different again in the race. That didn't make it easy for him to adapt. Nevertheless, he scored three points. That's all the more remarkable because it wasn't an easy one for him after this qualifying. We have to be satisfied with that and it's simply part of the learning process."
