Muñoz & Pini leave Termas with valuable insights

The Argentinian Grand Prix was a major challenge for the LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP Team. Despite not winning any world championship points, the team gained valuable experience. Guido Pini crashed after a strong start in 13th place, while David Muñoz gave his all starting from the pit lane.

David Muñoz showed tireless commitment throughout the weekend on the 4.81-kilometre long track at Termas de Rio Hondo despite having to start from the pit lane. The 18-year-old Spaniard did his best in all sessions to develop a strong race pace. In the race, however, he was unable to close the gap to the main field. Muñoz has to leave Argentina empty-handed and is now pinning all his hopes on the US Grand Prix in Austin, which is next on the agenda.

Moto3 rookie Guido Pini delivered a positive start to the second round of the season. From 22nd on the grid, the Italian improved by six positions on the first lap and fought his way up to 13th place within four laps. On the tenth lap, a collision at the exit of turn 7 led to a crash. Despite restarting the race with a visibly damaged KTM, Pini eventually had to retire. The fact that the youngster was battling in the points against well-known rivals in only his second World Championship appearance will put the disappointment into perspective.

In just two weeks, from the 28th - 30th of March, the ambitious German Moto3 team will have their next chance to turn their undeniable potential into points at the Circuit of the Americas.

"It was a very difficult day for us, especially because of the penalty. But the tyre choice also had an impact on our race, because the harder option for the rear is not the best choice for me. But today we wanted to try it to gain experience. From that point of view, it was good, because the weekend wasn't too bad overall. But the penalty made it difficult from the start today. So, we'll try to do better next time in America."

"Considering the difficult weekend we've had here up until today, it was still a good race, even if it took until the halfway point. I was able to consolidate my position in the first group, which I'm very happy about. Of course, I would have liked to have finished the race, but another rider touched me in turn seven and I crashed. Unfortunately, there's not much more to say. I've already set my focus on the next race and I'm going to Texas with more confidence after this half race was a good one."

"Termas de Rio Hondo was new to Guido. But he improved with every practice session and even finished 15th in Free Practice Two on Saturday morning, although the light rain in Q1 caused him a bit more trouble than perhaps his rivals. This led to 22nd place on the grid, which was still a good starting position for him. In the race, he got away well at the start and immediately established himself in the points. He even managed to work his way up to 13th place. Unfortunately, he then had a contact with another rider, which ended his race due to a crash. But until then he had done a very, very good job.
David, on the other hand, was able to set his highlights in both free practice sessions with first and second place. Unfortunately, he did not make it into Q2. However, this didn't matter for today's race, as David had to start from the pit lane due to his penalty from Thailand. We opted for the hard tyre on his side, but this option offered him no grip. Under these circumstances, he was unable to make up ground and therefore he decided to come into the pits, where we switched to the softer compound with which he did a few more laps. At the moment we are still empty-handed. It's not nice that still neither of our two riders has finished in the two races so far. We will analyze the situation carefully and try to do better in America."
