Garzo back on 1st row & Tulovic takes a brave P7 in Assen qualifying

Things went well for Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE rider Hector Garzo from the first session of the Dutch Grand Prix, which the Spaniard proved once again in qualifying with his second place on the grid. Lukas Tulovic, who recently underwent surgery also impressed with his progress from Q1 and seventh place on the grid at the legendary Dutch TT.

Thousands and thousands of fans were already lining the 4.54-kilometre traditional circuit when the MotoE riders took their first laps on Friday morning. Hector Garzo got off to a solid start with 5th place and a 1'40.987 in P1. When they went out on track for P2 at lunchtime, the speedy Spaniard set the same fastest time as Jordi Torres with his 1'39.965, who was fastest due to his second place in P1. One thing was clear though: the 26-year-old would directly secure his ticket for Q2 in the afternoon. In the ten-minute qualifying session, Garzo once again finished second, just 0.338s behind pole setter Alessandro Zaccone, and will therefore go into the upcoming sprints on Saturday full of hope.

Dynavolt team-mate Lukas Tulovic, after his recent hand surgery and an impressive comeback performance on Friday of the Assen Grand Prix, is confident going into Saturday's races, which will certainly be gruelling for the German, especially as the temperatures are expected to be somewhat higher at over 25°C. A ninth and tenth place in the first two practice sessions of the day initially sent the 24-year-old from Baden-Württemberg into Q1, where he established himself as the second fastest and was given another chance of a good grid position. His 1'40.407 was ultimately 0.963s behind the leader and meant a seventh place on the grid in row 3.

The 7-lap MotoE races start at 12:15 (CEST) and 16:10 on Saturday and should pave the way for a successful double.
