Garzo ready to fight in Assen & Tulovic in comeback fervour
After the half-time thriller at the Italian Grand Prix, the MotoE stars are now back at the TT Circuit Assen after three race-free weekends, where the Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE team hopes to be able to attack with a full line-up. Lukas Tulovic in particular wants to make up for his painful Mugello crash, but Hector Garzo is also doing everything he can to close the 9-point gap to the Top 3 with Saturday's double races.
The cathedral-like atmosphere makes the Dutch TT not only a place of pilgrimage for local racing enthusiasts but also for tens of thousands of fans from neighbouring Germany. This should please Lukas Tulovic in particular. However, the German is still hoping to pass the medical check following a hand operation almost 14 days ago and to be cleared to start so that he can get back on his Ducati on Friday and take part in the practice and qualifying sessions. After the MotoE rider went down hard in the first race at Mugello and was visibly shaken, further examinations in Germany revealed a fracture of the scaphoid bone in his left hand. The fracture was fixed with a screw at a clinic in Ludwigshafen and just two weeks later the now 24-year-old wants to get back on his bike as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, his Spanish Dynavolt teammate is working on more consistency. Hector Garzo knows how to be fast and undoubtedly has what it takes to fight for the title, but the 26-year-old, who, like his team-mate, also recently celebrated his birthday, only has four weekends left to reclaim the role as a title favourite and close the current 44-point gap to world championship leader Mattia Casadei in the remaining eight races.
On the 4.54km long traditional race track, the passionate fans are guaranteed another action-packed battle for position on Saturday with two races at 12:15 and 16:10 (CEST) that will get them out of their 110,000 seats before the Memmingen team's home Grand Prix at the Sachsenring in just one week's time.
