Intact Junior Jakob Rosenthaler with wildcard at the Red Bull Ring

The 18-year-old from Linz will make his debut in FIM Moto3™ World Championship at his home Grand Prix of all places - a dream for every young racer. A second wildcard start in Misano has also been confirmed.

Jakob Rosenthaler is contesting his third season in FIM JuniorGP™ World Championship this year. The highly competitive junior series has always been regarded as a springboard into Grand Prix racing. Rosenthaler's performance curve has been on a steep upward trajectory since last year, with a podium on paper at the end of the season. This season, he is 13th in the points table at the moment and his performances on track certainly confirm further potential for the Upper Austrian.

The «Motorrad Grand Prix von Österreich» will take place on the weekend from 16th to 18th of August at the Red Bull Ring in Styria. Rosenthaler will be integrated into the Moto3 structure of the LIQUI MOLY Husqvarna Intact GP Team.

"I am really looking forward to my first Grand Prix, which will also take place at my home race at the Red Bull Ring. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved for making this possible for me. The application for the wildcard for Spielberg was submitted some time ago. Since then, I have always hoped that it would work out. Now that it has been confirmed, I can hardly wait for my first Grand Prix. I am very happy because it was always my goal to make it into Moto3 World Championship. My first Grand Prix should be an important step towards this, because I can get a taste of it without any pressure and show what I am capable of to do. From this year at the latest, my absolute goal was to deliver results that are good enough to be considered for a wildcard what I have obviously achieved. I can be a bit proud of that."

"I will prepare as well as possible for Spielberg and give my 100 percent there to meet expectations. In any case, I want to enjoy it and have fun. I will also try to go into the weekend with as little pressure as possible, because there will be a certain amount of nervousness at the home Grand Prix in front of full grandstands. I want to block that out as much as possible and deliver a flawless weekend with decent results. Finally, a big thank you once again, especially to the entire team management with Jürgen Lingg, Stefan Keckeisen, Wolfgang Kuhn and Dirk Reissmann, who are largely responsible for giving me my first taste of Grand Prix air next weekend!"

Since the start of this season, Jakob has steadily improved in terms of his pace, his lap times and, of course, his results. He is always close to the top, there really is not much missing. Therefore, it is absolutely justified that he gets this chance. We hope for his sake that it ends successfully, because it certainly will not be easy for him. With Spielberg and Misano, Jakob will be riding at two tracks that he already knows well. From our side, we will offer him an environment in which he can perform well during the weekends what is a test for him in both cases.
