In attacking mode into the penultimate round of the season
This weekend sees the penultimate round of the 2023 MotoE World Championship season at the Gran Premi de Catalunya in Barcelona, where Hector Garzo and Randy Krummenacher of the DYNAVOLT INTACT GP MotoE Team will be going all out to score high.
Just outside Barcelona, the Circuit de Catalunya will also be the venue for the all-electric World Motorcycle Championship for the first time ever, but even though no MotoE races have yet been contested on the local 4.66km track, a three-day MotoE test was already held at the beginning of April. This gives the 18 starters a good idea of what to expect on the two days of thrilling racing.
Compatriot Hector Garzo hopes to be back at the front of the field in front of his home crowd, having scored a total of 24 points in Austria with a fourth and fifth-place finish, and the gap to the World Championship leader is now only 43 points with 100 still to be awarded in four races. But the competition is fierce, even in their own ranks, because DYNAVOLT INTACT GP teammate Randy Krummenacher is only nine points behind the 25-year-old Spaniard.
But as the experienced racer that he is, "Krummi" also knows the Spanish track like the back of his hand, so the Swiss will rely above all on his experience and the data from the previous test. The 33-year-old will go into the two 7-lap races on Saturday at 12:15 and 16:10 (CEST) with his usual attacking spirit and self-confidence, but before that, he will have to leave his competitors behind him in qualifying on Friday.
