Misano II - time for revenge and collecting points
Just two weeks ago, the LIQUI MOLY Husqvarna Intact GP Team took part in the San Marino Grand Prix at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, which had a few surprises in store. Now Collin Veijer and Tatsuki Suzuki in Moto3 as well as Darryn Binder and Moto2 rookie Senna Agius return to the same circuit for the 14th Grand Prix and thus the penultimate European race of the season.
In the last round of Moto3, title contender Colin Veijer showed in a challenging race, despite supposed difficulties, that the 19-year-old got stronger towards the end of the race and, despite finishing fifth, was a real contender for the podium. The knowledge gained from the first race on the iconic 4.23 km Italian circuit will certainly help the Dutchman when he battles for valuable world championship points on his Husqvarna for the penultimate time on European soil from the 20th - 22nd of September. Teammate Tatsuki Suzuki sees his main tasks in the personal improvements of the training and qualifying sessions. This will once again be decisive for the course of the race, as two weeks ago the Japanese rider put in an extremely impressive recovery that raised the question of what would have happened if the 26-year-old had not had to start from 23rd place.
Moto2 rider Darryn Binder showed an equally brilliant sprint to the front and was rewarded with his fourth top 10 result in a row. The South African will also benefit from the data from Misano I when it comes to preparing his Kalex for the next exciting thriller and getting the absolute most out of qualifying on Saturday. Meanwhile, qualifying will also be highly relevant for Senna Agius, after the 19-year-old rookie's points haul in the San Marino Grand Prix in eleventh place was also impressive. This week, the focus will be on fighting for a place in Q2.
On Sunday, Moto3 and Moto2 will start an hour earlier than usual, at 10:00 and 11:15 (CEST) respectively.
The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix also marks the first of three consecutive race weekends, which will demand a lot from all riders, as the big overseas trip begins afterwards. This makes it all the more important to continue the journey from Italy to Indonesia with positive feelings.
