Row 7 double start for Agius and Binder in Jerez
In the highly competitive Moto2 class, LIQUI MOLY Husqvarna Intact GP Moto2 team riders Senna Agius and Darryn Binder only just missed out on making it out of Q1 and will start the fourth round of the season at the Circuito de Jerez - Ángel Nieto together from the seventh row on Sunday.
Even though Moto2 World Championship rookie Senna Agius already knows the 4.42 km Circuito de Jerez - Ángel Nieto very well, the changeable conditions of the two days of practice, coupled with the limited wet experience of the Pirelli tyres, did not make it an easy undertaking. Nevertheless, the Australian managed to improve and eliminate one or two difficulties and establish a solid race pace. Agius is in a positive mood for the 21-lap race, for which the curtains will fall on Sunday at 12:15 (CEST), even though the 18-year-old will not have an easy task ahead of him from nineteenth on the grid in row seven.
LIQUI MOLY Husqvarna Intact GP team-mate Darryn Binder will also start from row seven. Binder used the morning rain over the traditional Andalusian racetrack to gain experience with the new Pirelli tyres. The South African will line up in grid position 21 for Sunday's race, which is expected to be sunny, after narrowly missing out on Q2, as did his team-mate Senna Agius. Both fought fiercely for the top 4 in Q1. This was particularly bitter for Agius, whose fastest lap in P3 got cancelled. The 26-year-old Binder is now focussing on a good start, which should enable him to catch up with the points positions.
