Next stop for Intact GP Juniors: a hot Circuito de Jerez
For this weekend’s round three of the 2023 JuniorGP™ series, LIQUI MOLY Husqvarna Intact GP Junior Team heads to Jerez de la Frontera in southern Spain.
For teams and its young riders in FIM JuniorGP™ Word Championship, Moto2™ European Championship and European Talent Cup, the current race calendar contains a tight schedule. Since the season opener in Estoril, Portugal, the races have been held in a two-week rhythm. The last race-free weekend at Whitsun was used by Moto3™ protégé Jakob Rosenthaler from LIQUI MOLY Husqvarna Intact GP Junior Team to fully recover from the gastrointestinal problems he suffered the Saturday before last in Valencia.
With freshly refuelled energy, the 17-year-old talent from Upper Austria and his crew from the renowned German racing team are looking to build on their excellent performances since the season opener. Rosenthaler is perfectly capable of consistently finishing in the top 10, while his pit and local neighbour Leo Rammerstorfer is hot on the heels to score more points.
In Moto2™ European Championship, 17-year-old Australian Senna Agius sets the bar very high for the competition as he arrives at the third meeting of the season with the maximum points from three uncontested race wins. In the highly competitive European Talent Cup, Mohammed Abdalaziz Binladin represents the colours of the Memmingen-based racing team. As a newcomer to the series, he failed to qualify for the main races on Sunday both in Estoril and Valencia. So that remains the 15-year-old's primary goal.
For the 2023 season, there are significant changes to the schedule for Saturday and Sunday. As with Grand Prix racing, Sunday morning’s warm-up has been dropped for all classes and the qualifying format for the Moto3 class has been adapted to be the same as in Grand Prix, with a Q1 and a Q2. For Moto2 and the European Talent Cup, however, everything remains the same: two 40-minute qualifying sessions with a combined timesheet used as a ranking for the grid.
On race day, as usual, there will be a live stream via the series' YouTube channel, as well as live timing starting Friday.
