Dominant Garzo grabs debut pole in France, Tulovic in P9 on row 3

The start of the French Grand Prix could not have gone better for Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE rider Hector Garzo, as the Spaniard took his first MotoE pole position at the Bugatti Circuit in Le Mans. Team-mate Lukas Tulovic finished ninth in Q2 and will start Saturday's races from the third row of the grid.

The third and fourth MotoE races of the season are scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, at the Bugatti Circuit on the outskirts of the famous French racing city of Le Mans. Prior to this, the two riders from the Memmingen-based racing team completed two practice sessions and a close qualifying session on today's busy Friday, which was particularly successful for Spaniard Hector Garzo. The 25-year-old dominated the first practice session with a 1'40.802, putting him 0.469s ahead of his nearest rival. He was able to improve on this time on the 4.19 kilometre longtraditional race track in the second practice session of the day. Garzo was then able to really step up his game in the 15-minute qualifying session, where he became the unbeaten pole setter thanks to a brilliant 1'39.995. This is the fastest-ever MotoE lap in Le Mans and the Spaniard's first personal E-Pole, which makes him extremely confident for the double race on Saturday.

Despite a significant improvement from the first to the second practice session, Lukas Tulovic was unable to improve in Qualifying 2, which he reached thanks to his eighth position in the overall practice standings. The German had expected a little more before Saturday's race but knows that nothing is lost with his ninth starting position on row three. Only the way to the front may be a little more difficult than hoped, but the 23-year-old will throw himself into the fray when the first race of the day starts at 12:15 (CEST) before the second chance to score points awaits him at 16:10.
