LIQUI MOLY Husqvarna Intact GP: Stepping up the game at the European opener
In Portimao, on the Portuguese Algarve coast, one of the most spectacular circuits on the calendar awaits the LIQUI MOLY Husqvarna Intact GP Team. At the second round of the season, Collin Veijer and Tatsuki Suzuki want to impress once again and score big points. Moto2 riders Darryn Binder and Senna Agius are both aiming for at least top 14 results in order to take home their first championship points.
The first round of this expectedly record-breaking 2024 season has already provided plenty of action and the second round of the Motorcycle World Championship at the breathtaking Autodromo Internacional do Algarve is expected to deliver no less. Fifth place in Qatar was a successful start for Dutch rider Collin Veijer, but the 19-year-old knows what he and his Husqvarna are capable of. At the European opener, he is now hoping to collect more world championship points, just like his new team-mate Tatsuki Suzuki. The Japanese rider surprised everyone with a seventh place in Doha after the 26-year-old only just missed out on Q2 in the first qualifying session of the year - something that should not be repeated in Portimao, which is why he and his new crew will be working precisely on improvements from the first free practice session onwards.
In the Moto2 squadron of the German racing team, Darryn Binder and Senna Agius want to put the Qatar Grand Prix behind them, where an unfortunate tyre punt robbed them of the chance to score points and start all over again. The 4.59 km rollercoaster track will certainly be a challenge, but the 26-year-old South African and his 18-year-old Moto2 rookie Agius will not simply hope for better conditions but will work hard and fight their way into a hopefully successful qualifying session to put themselves in a perfect position to fight for their first World Championship points of the year in Sunday's 21-lap race at 13:15 (CET).
