Binder grabs fourth consecutive top ten finish & P11 for Agius in San Marino GP
For LIQUI MOLY Husqvarna Intact GP rider Darryn Binder, the race in Misano was quite a positive development. From 25th on the grid, the South African made his way into the top 10, where he battled for the points together with teammate Senna Agius.
After a difficult qualifying session, Darryn Binder started the race in his usual positive manner, but the 26-year-old would never have dared to believe that he would put in such a brilliant catch-up. After a solid start, the South African really got going thanks to his strong pace, so that at the end of the 22-lap race he was able to celebrate his fourth consecutive top 10 results, which earned him six more championship points after countless overtaking manoeuvres and duels, some of them with his own teammate. With the knowledge gained from this weekend, the Moto2 rider will prepare for the race on the exact same circuit in two weeks' time, focusing on a good qualifying session, as he certainly has what it takes to keep up in the race.
The ambitious rookie Senna Agius, who was satisfied but not completely happy after his San Marino Grand Prix, will certainly do the same. The Australian simply lacked that last bit of feeling for his Kalex in the hot and humid conditions, although the 19-year-old felt much more confident towards the end of the race. An eleventh place is nevertheless a strong performance from the youngster, who is tied on points with his team-mate in 15th place in the World Championship.
What will the second Grand Prix in Misano hold in store when the German team's Moto2 squad returns to the Riviera di Rimini from September 20th - 22nd?
