The LIQUI MOLY Intact GP duo returns to action at Portimao

The Algarve International Circuit in Portimao, Portugal is the venue for the European season opener of the 2021 season this week, with Marcel Schrötter and Tony Arbolino thus returning to the track where they already completed a test at the beginning of March.

The Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in the middle of the beautiful surroundings of the Portuguese Algarve is 4.6 kilometres long and includes a total of 15 corners - nine right and six left-handers. The fun course provides plenty of thrills for riders and spectators alike, because after the 969-metre-long home straight, where the machines rush at high speed, it takes a lot of courage on the downhill section into the first corner.

Marcel Schrötter is looking forward to the rollercoaster circuit, where he was already able to do positive test laps with his team in March. After an eighth-place finish in Qatar and a dnf through no fault of his own in the Doha GP, he is still aiming to put the decisive lap on the asphalt in qualifying and thus secure a better starting position. The 28-year-old is confident because he has the necessary pace, as he proved with very good practice sessions and impressive catch-ups in the first two races.

Portimao also hosted the finale of a very exceptional season last November. Tony Arbolino fought for the Moto3 World Championship title in that race until the last lap. In a super close decision, he eventually became vice world champion before moving to the LIQUI MOLY Intact GP team! After his spectacularly fought eleventh place in Doha, the 20-year-old Italian is highly motivated to be in the thick of things again in the Grande Premio of Portugal.
